Wind, and Freya the Cat are not so helpful gardeners.
49*, feels like 44*, 73% humidity, N 12 mph, partly cloudy
I have mentioned before that this lot is a wind tunnel. Well, it's true. It seems like any little breeze is funneled into a strong gale through our lot! For three days now the house has shaken with the force of it. I know I will never be able to grow tall flowers ever again if I live here for the rest of my days (but I will still try of course). Each time I go out into the garden, I wonder if I will have lost another garbage can (we are down to ONE now, freakin' wind) and I wonder how many lawn chairs will have started their journey down the street.....
I would love to plant a big wind screen but I don't have the associations permission for that and we can't have fences to cut the wind either. Ah well....at least the year isn't starting off as wet as it was last year (knock on wood! I hope I just didn't jinx myself...)
And despite the wind, I was still able to dig up even more lawn today, though not a huge bit as I pulled a muscle in my neck goofing off yesterday (don't ask). I did enough to plant some sunflower seeds (pushing it early, I know but they are old seeds so I don't have much to lose anyway) and some giant flowered zinnias as well.
Freya insisted on 'helping' me in the garden today. Her latest trick is to escape out the door into the outside and then lead me on a chase to go catch her. It's my fault really, i gave her the taste of the outdoors by taking her out in a harness and leash. Amazingly she LETS ME put that on her, and this is a kitty that will tear you to pieces if you dare try to put a kitty collar on her. This one was made for rabbits and ferrets, but my big boy bunny is too big for it despite it being the largest size there is, and it just happened to fit Freya just right and apparently is comfortable enough that she doesn't spazz out when I put it on her. Little spoiled brat who kills all my houseplants.....I will just have to start squirting her with the water gun every time she even nears that door when she isn't supposed to.
