The Hellebore expiriment worked!

35*, 78% humidity, calm wind, fair (Dang, It's a nice day!)

It wasn't long ago at all that I was wondering if my hellebore seeds would take 3 years to sprout....

Well, they don't. Nope. I looked this very morning, and low and behold, not 1, but 2! seeds have sprouted on me. WOHOO!!!! I am so proud of myself. I guess soaking them first in hot water must of done the trick! These guys didn't even need a cold stratification to get them going like ALL the websites say they need. Am I cool or what? (Don't answer, I know I'm a Dork)

I placed the soaking seeds into their baggies with damp seed starting mix this morning after 24 hours of soaking. The Rosa rugosas went directly into the crisper for 120 days (minimum says the packet) while the Rosa virginia and the Acer get to stay warm and damp for 60 days before hitting the chiller. But, if they are as fresh as my hellebore, perhaps they will sprout sooner?

Oh, how I wish I could send you 100 stinking hellebore (not the pretty lenten rose kind, but the kind with the big, green spikes). Very invasive in Tennessee, and I happen to find them UGLY. I'm eager to give some away....
