I think it is an Oliver Corn Picker, but I'm not a farmer so I don't know about farm equipment. I found it off trail in the woods round here on my morning walk. Its been here a little while as trees and brier roses have grown up around it.
There used to be a truck from the 1920s out in the woods, not far from my parent's cottage on lake with trees all grown up around it. We were told it was for pulling stumps out of what was a swamp, which is now the lake.
We kids used to go and play on it, always looking out for bees nests. Now that I'm a dad, It would be definitely off-limits for my kid.
I have what I'm pretty sure is a silo top (looks like a flying saucer) in my woods -- I think sometimes things might have been placed to be blinds for deer hunting, as this silo top would be perfect for that. Climb in, sit around a while, drink some coffee -- one could conceivably even have a small propane stove or heater in there....
Trapped in Cornfields....
This is my story, my life, in Indiana.
I love seeds. Seeds are like the mystery of the universe all packaged up in a handy little carrying case. :) Forget those people who tell you it's better not to try to grow a seed. That it won't amount to anything worthwhile. To those folks I say pooey! Every seed has potential and most of all hope which is a good enough reason for me.
I garden in a swell, surrounded by farms, swamp, and a stone's throw from Indiana dunes. This is zone 5-6. We get lots of snow in the winter, and lots of rain in the summer.
