Record breaking heat!
54*, 90% humidity, S 15 mph wind, thunderstorm, URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY, TORNADO WATCH
Strange weather for January. Today, for the second time in a row, we broke records. According to Weather Underground, we hit 69*, which breaks the record for this date back in 1965 (50*).
But, what can I say? Crazy weather is to be expected with this whole global warming thing. There are those skeptics out there that will say "Oh but it was cold and snowy here and here. Look, there are places that are getting colder then normal." Well, global warming doesn't mean everyone is going to turn into the tropics! No, it means as the atmosphere warms, jet streams and weather patterns change, causing instability, massive droughts, floods, and crazy storms.

Yeah, there really doesn't seem any doubt about it. From being in the garden...intensely focussed on the garden, for the last five years, it's obvious to me that the crazy weather is obviously not some passing phase. I just got an email from my sister who works with a bunch of long-term weather researchers in Europe, not big scientists, just day-to-day workers in a weather department, and "global warming", or at least, totally wild and unpredictable weather, is apparently to them just an accepted, everyday new fact of life... At least with this warm spell, I get to do a late final harvest after being caught by all that unexpected early snow! Cheers!!
