Herbs Line Up
I have some herbs already in the yard, this list will be of new ones I am starting this year.
- Catnip- I've already started it in the house. The cats help me keep the seedlings pinched so they will grow bushy. These were Ferris Morris seeds.
- Peppermint Mentha x piperita-- Already started in the house. I wouldn't mind at all if this escaped into the lawn...The seeds were a freebie from Celestrial Seasonings Tea company
- Parsley Italian Flat-Leaved-- Already started some in the house. Not sure how much of it I would used, so I have about 10 plants. I have both Ferris Morris seeds and Pinetree garden seeds for these (I bought one forgetting I had a pack of the other)
- Basil Italian Pesto---Just in case i get the hankering for basil. I don't use it too much except in cooking. These seeds were from Pinetree Garden Seeds. See what a loyal customer I am?
- Sage, Broad leaf-- Ferris Morris Seeds. never grown this before.
- Sage, Clary--From Pinetree Garden Seeds.
- Sage, White-- Again from Pintree Garden Seeds.
- Tarragon--- I don't know what to do with tarragon, but it's an herb and I bought the seeds on clearance. Ferris Morris seeds.
- Borage- Bianca--From Pinetree Garden seeds. In CA, I grew the blue flowered ones, then never had to plant them again as they came up everywhere. I don't mind that one bit.
- Dill- Long Island mammoth--I can't grow pickles without dill. Ferris Morris Seeds.
- Stevia--This is REALLY new to me from Pinetree Garden Seeds. It's supposed to be a sweetener.
- Chamomile- German---This was a freebie from Celestrial Seasonings Tea company.

2 seeds of thought:
That tarragon... mix it in with cheddar and maybe some heavy cream, pour it over potatoes, and bake. YUM.
It will be interesting if you get the Stevia to grow. I had seeds from Park's one year but I got no germination... so I don't know if they're tricky, or if it's a Parks thing. (I have grown to hate their seeds and refuse to buy them.)
Blackswamp Girl, i also bought a book about stevia to help me with the seeds. It says that dark seeds germinate much better then light colored seeds and the seeds need to be very fresh to germinate at all. That being said, once you have plants going, you can take cuttings every year to over winter them.
