Robins, Blackbirds and Swans, OH MY!

27*, feels like 17*, 76% humidity, N 10 mph wind, partly cloudy

I stepped outside with Sasha this morning to a cacophony of birds. Blackbirds were sweeping through the sky but also there were robins singing nearby and downy woodpecker (I think! some kind of woodpecker anyway...) geese, and even swans which I have noticed in the last few days arriving as they fly over pretty low, probably on their way to one of the local fens or ponds. It sounds like spring now.

That fake border I put around the little front bed brought out the neighbors up and down the street to investigate- I can't do anything here with out folks getting curious. More then one asked me how much they cost, and where they too could get it. I should of told them that they cost $20 a piece, I don't want to look the same as everyone else! Mr, Hyper was fascinated with the idea that I did this, asked me if I was going to do the other side as well (I am), and was surprised I knew how to measure and get the exact amount I needed. It's simple math, my dear husband, what's so surprising? Mr. Hyper is not a hands on project kind of guy, so I guess he just never considered how to do something like that before.

The sound of trumpeter swans give me chills up and down my spine! Did you know that they have been on the endangered list due to the fact that for years, hunters used lead shot for duck hunting, and swans ingest the shot while dabbling for food on the bottom of marshes? Now most hunters use non-poisonous shot, but of course there's years of accumulation that the swans still get at. Too sad!
