Another active day :)

The hell hound struck again. I was out giving Buttons some shade and a frozen water bottle to cool her off as its warm out there and she was panting and when I came back inside, before I even realized what Brandi dog was up to she ran off, acting guilty, running from the scene of her crime, a half eaten pumpkin pie that had been up on the stove cooling. It's not that she was hungry, the bottomless stomach on legs had just been given her dinner and half a grilled cheese burger, and a milk bone too, only a few minutes before the crime.
Grumble...grumble...grumble.... At least now she's only running around the house like a maniac playing "this is mine" with her squeaky squirrel toy.
I love her, truly I do and she has her sweet moments but she is no Sasha that's for sure! But she is getting better in the typically slow hard headed willful hound dog kind of way. She certainly keeps me on my toes.
This morning, Brandi "helped" me turn my compost pile. She wasn't much help either when I was feeding the rabbits or the chicks. She just is having one of those puppy days....
Supposedly Silver Bullet, our new buck mini-rex rabbit is mean--or so said the guy we barted with for him. He'd been kept in a small cage with only a small door opening, which is a bad idea if you have rabbits. A nice top that opens is what you really need on a hutch or cage. Silver has been nothing but sweet to me, I can pick him up and cuddle the big lug and I did so while cleaning his cage. But, reportedly he did bite Mr. Hyper so I've warned the kids to be careful not to stick fingers in his cage. I've hand fed him goodies and give him plenty of scratches every time I pass the cages and he seems to like that just fine. He's a beautiful rabbit.
In the garden, I finally got around to transplanting baby red and white rugosa roses (the one's I'd grown from seed) into gallon pots. I kept 12 roses, 6 each color and culled the rest to the compost as I only want 10 and have 2 extra for backup plants just in case something comes along and eats them. I can always sell the 2 extras later with the extra peppermint plants I have (also grown from seeds) at the community garage sale coming up in June. The 3 remaining daylilly seedlings, the survivors from animal raids, got planted into gallon pots as well.
Speaking of things coming along and eating my plants.... One of my giant pumpkin seedlings was chomped down. Good thing I have spares!
